I signed up for it last night and already watched a classic race from the archive - the 1996 Monaco GP was a strange one. I had heard so much about Olivier Panis’ win here but I totally blanked on it up to the point where Damon Hill’s engine decided to call it quits. I thought it was unusual that there were so many race retirements but didn’t clue in until later.

$79 for the annual sub; for a big F1 fan like me, this was a no brainer since it gets me the F2/F3 races, plus I won’t have to go through the hassle of finding streams anymore. Pricewise, it’s quite reasonable when you consider what other countries pay after converting back to our loonie.

Not sure what this means for the TSN broadcasting contract but I love the fact that I no longer need to make choice between waking up early to catch the whole race or waiting hours after the finish, avoiding all car news (which makes up most of what I read online), and having to “find” a copy somewhere.

im still sad i wont be doing the live posts anymore (seriously...i got a little choked up on the last one...lol...didnt think i cared that much *sigh*)

curse you discord for generally being better suited to live comments and shit talking

anyhoooo...courtesy of max mania i get all the races for free... least for as long as max is a contender...if he stops getting results or somehow manages to piss off the rabid fanbois my provider will probably drop f1 like a hot potato and pretend it never happened...max? who dat?

It’s pretty cool that you get the race broadcasts for free because of Max; here, TSN definitely isn’t going to do that even though we have twice as many drivers on the grid as the Dutch (lol). Heck, I feel like the Zandvoort race was forced into the calendar just for Max.

As far as the race threads go... they were fun while they lasted. Haven’t been on discord in a long time, probably since we found out that Oppo wasn’t going to be axed, but I’ll have to remember to go back there for the Australian GP.

zandvoort is pretty much all because of max..i mean aside from liberty media deciding to roll with it coz holy shitballs the orange army

funding to get the track up to snuff (or even the attempt to get a dutch gp in assen) just would not have happened without him.... dutch fans are fanatic but fickle and if theres no dutch driver on the grid most will go back to not really giving a shit

anyhoo my provider does the races free the other big provider does the football free and between them they provide for most of the country even tho we have many cheaper/better providers to choose from

strategic freebies should not be underestimated lol

I very happy with the Sky feed from TSN. I’m on the left coast so most Sundays I can get up, make a nice fry up and commence to watching the race on PV R . Because of the timing it’s easy not to get a spoiler.....unless my phone pushes the results in an alert (I’ve learned not to check my phone when I wake up on race day)

It is so worth it. No dealing with questionable sites or software for poor quality streams, no having to sit in front of your TV at the right time. Just watch it when you want and how you want.

I’m using a bit of an European loophole. It is not available in Estonia, where I currently live, but it is available in my home country of the Netherlands. I still have a Dutch bank account and credit card, muahaha. Quick registration when I was visiting my parents (Dutch IP address, VPNs are too fickle and sometimes get detected). And thanks to some nice EU regulations I am legally allowed to watch it wherever I am in the EU.

I mean, 22  races, you are paying like sub- €4 a race. So worth it.

...21 now, I guess.

Still worth it 100% - I’ve said that I was willing to fork over money to F1 for a long time since I’ve almost never watched it on a live TV broadcast, it’s always been through torrents or streaming.

I love the classic races and the highlights - it’s going to be hella useful.

Now if the MotoGP package would drop in price I’d be happy camper. The 140 euro they’re asking for is a bit rich for me, works out to about 200 CAD.

If I had still had cable/fibe I’d do that.

M y favourite Sunday mornings are Formula 1 and a home cooked breakfast, but now I can focus on making bigger and/or better breakfast instead of scrambling to find a good quality stream.

Checking the phone on race day is a bad idea, mainly because the races I miss tend to be exciting for some reason - for example, I found out about Multi-21 and Leclerc’s drive in Bahrain 2019 because I was on reddit and was away from home.

I agree about our favourite Sundays. Also, from around ‘07 to ‘15 I was coaching hockey where my practice ice time was Saturday 7 am. I would always get up early and watch a portion of quali, sometimes live, while I had some instant oatmeal and a coffee. I’d watch the remaining when I got home. It’s the simple things in life right?
